Fabric Suggestions: The Ilford Jacket is designed for woven fabrics. For a jacket with structure go for a lightweight canvas, denim, corduroy or heavy cotton. It also looks great in linen or flannel.

Some suggestions from our range: Sera Weighty Cotton Blend, Hardy Herringbone WoolOrganic Cotton Twill or even in heavy weight linen.

Trims required: Matching thread, 5-12 buttons (any size is fine, but we recommend 1-1.5” buttons)and 1 yard fusible interfacing (weight depends on the fabric you are using but light to mid weight is recommended). YouTube video "How to sew a Placket" can be found here.

Skill Level: Suitable for a confident beginner-intermediate level sewing. Click here to download the paper doll file so you can plan your Ilford!

    Ilford Jacket

I made this jacket using Merchant and Mills cotton jacquard. This is a fabric frays very badly. I would have liked to line it. I did, but would have really liked the pattern to include instructions to do that.
I found the pattern easy to understand and the instructions easy to follow. I have ended up with a great boxy lined jacket. I will make
    The Ilford Jacket pattern again.
