LUNE DRESS • Pattern
By FRENCH PEOTRY, The Lune Dress is a paper sewing pattern.
Garment Details: The Lune dress is an elegant full length or above the knee dress, with a front and back V-neckline with slight gathers at the bust. It features a flattering triangle shaped empire waist with a fitted bodice and back waist darts. The skirt is flared and the dress fully lined. View B offers detachable shoulder ties.
A sleeve add-on is also available as a PDF download directly from the French Poetry online webpage.
Sizing: This is a multi-size pattern, including sizes XS-XL (2-16). Sizing guide, finished garment measurements and fabric requirements can be found here.
Fabric Suggestions: The Lune dress pattern is designed for woven fabrics with a good drape. Crepe, satin, twil, silk, cupro, Tencel, a light-weight cotton lawn, viscose or polyester.
The lining needs to be a very lightweight woven fabric with a similar drape to your main fabric (e.g. avoid using cotton poplin to line viscose crepe). If you choose it as a wedding dress sewing pattern, you may want to add a third layer of sheer fabric (silk organza for example): treat it the same way as you main fabric and order the same quantity.
Trims required: Matching thread, 40cm invisible zipper. You will also need some strips of silk organza to stabilize seams that are on the bias, to prevent any stretching (alternatively you can buy iron-on stabilizing tape, or even use strips of interfacing cut in the straight of grain).
Skill Level: The pattern is placed at a Level 3 out of 5, on the French Poetry pattern skill scale, which means you should be at an intermediate skill level. This dress will be fairly easy to make for anyone who has made a few garments already. Bust adjustments are made easy with the included option to cut the bodice front piece in your chosen cup size (from A to G). Height adjustments are possible on the skirt but will be difficult on the bodice: because of its design, it is not possible to place a lengthening/shortening line for easy adjustments.
The number indicated on the French Poetry patterns and on the product pages correspond to your sewing experience level, on a 5-point scale:
1/ Beginner
2/ Confident Beginner
3/ Intermediate
4/ Advanced
5/ Expert
The paper pattern comes carefully packaged in an envelope together with a step-by-step assembly instruction in English.
A 5/8” (1.5cm) seam allowance is included.
