BLOCK TEE • Pattern

By PAPER THEORY, the Block Tee is a paper sewing pattern.

Garment Details: The Block Tee (Formerly named the Kabuki Tee) is a modern, oversized t-shirt, designed to look relaxed and feel easy to wear in a woven fabric without restricting movement.

The body is much wider than a regular t-shirt and the sleeves are longer than normal, sitting just above the elbow, with the angular square armholes being its hallmark feature. The neckline has a hidden binding to complement its minimalist design and the hem turn ups are extra deep to emphasise its boxy silhouette.

Sizing: This is a multi-size pattern, including sizes 6-28. Sizing and finished garment measurements can be found here. 

For reference the main model pictured here is 5'5" with a 32" bust (the model with long straight hair) She is wearing a size 8. The second model is 5'9 with a 43" bust (short Afro hair) She is wearing a size 20.

Fabric Suggestions: The pattern was designed with a woven fabric like Linen or Cotton in mind, and it would work equally well in something light and drapey like a Crepe de Chine or Silk.

Trims required: Matching thread.

Skill Level: The pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner. You will learn to make your own bias binding and apply it to the neckline. The armholes are square and sewing right angles may be a new technique for some beginner sewists - however there is a video on the Paper Theory blog to guide those who are unfamiliar with this technique.

Seam allowances are included in the pattern. 

The paper patterns are printed onto premium 270gsm card which makes them luxurious and substantial to hold, but more importantly they will have longevity and not disintegrate with the wear and tear of use. The pattern is printed onto 60gsm paper and each style comes with a full step by step, instruction booklet printed onto 120gsm paper.

This pattern was made and printed in England on FSC certified card and paper by a printer who is registered with the Woodland Trust.
