SAYWARD RAGLAN • Pattern
By THREAD THEORY, Sayward Raglan is a paper sewing pattern.
Garment Details: A versatile raglan t-shirt sewing pattern to create every day casual wear. The attractively curved raglan seams paired with a relaxed crew neckline serve to create the flattering appearance of a strong chest. The sleeves are slim without clinging. The body is an average fit suitable for most figures. Choose between full length sleeves or short sleeves that end mid-bicep. The hems can be sewn using a zig-zag stitch or a twin needle.
Instructions for sewing with knits are thorough and include finishing suggestions, step-by-step illustrations and both beginner or intermediate sewing options. They explain methods for sewing the shirt with or without a serger. Fabric requirement charts are provided for a monochrome shirt or a colour-blocked shirt with contrast sleeves and neckband.
This pattern is a classic garment that lends itself to creating the perfect casual, hand-made wardrobe for an active lifestyle.
Sizing: This is a multi-size pattern, including Canadian sizes XS-4XL. Sizing, finished garment measurements and fabric requirements can be found here.
Fabric Suggestions: Light to medium weight knit fabrics, including fine merino wool with a least 20% stretch. Easier to sew: More stable knits such as thick t-shirt knits. Interlock or french terry are good examples of stable knits. Cotton blends with 6% or less spandex content are generally easier to sew. More challenging to sew: Very stretchy or thin knits that are prone to curling at their edges. They will still make excellent t-shirts but will be more challenging to sew. Bamboo, cotton or hemp jersey blends, tissue-weight knits, ribbed knits, or athletic materials with a large spandex content are good examples of very stretchy or thin knits.
Trims required: Matching thread, optional twin needle for hems and stretch or ball point needle.
Skill Level: Suitable for a beginner skill level.
Seam allowances are included in the pattern.
The paper pattern comes in a sturdy chip-board folder with a string closure for maximum re-usability. The instruction booklet is staple-bound and lays nice and flat while you sew. The tissue pattern is professionally printed on 8# tissue paper. Lastly, a Thread Theory garment tag for the ultimate finished product is included!
