THE DARLOW PANTS • Pattern
By IN THE FOLDS, The Darlow Pants is a paper sewing pattern.
Garment Details: The Darlow pants are a cropped, tapered pant with a lot of interesting panel lines and details. They have been designed to give a new spin to the classic pant and can be worn as an easy and casual option or dressed up for a nice evening option.
The pants sit on the natural waist and feature a fly front with zip closure, shaped waistband, in-seam pockets, back pockets and hem facings. The Darlow pants are designed to be quite fitted through the waist and hip, before more volume is added through the leg, for an interesting shape.
View A has slightly more volume through the leg than View B, and features patch pockets, while View B has back welt pockets. Both comprise a number of interesting shaped panel lines that encourage a unique shape and an interesting making experience.
Sizing and fabric requirements: Sizing, finished garment measurement and fabric requirements, information can be found here.
Fabric Suggestions: The pattern is compatible with mid to heavy weight woven fabrics. Consider using: linen, linen blends, cotton drill/twill, denim or wool.
For a softer, more dressy silhouette, consider using midweight silk. Keep in mind that View A has more volume in the thigh area and you may want to use mid-weight fabric (rather than heavy weight fabric) for this reason.
Trims required: Matching thread, 1 x 15cm (6in) trouser zip (use a standard dress zip if you are using lightweight fabric), 1 x 2cm (¾in) button, 2 x medium pant hooks (no wider than 1.2cm (½in), 0.5m (0.5yds) x light to mid-weight fusible interfacing (depending on your fabric choice). Optional: for inner waistband - 1m (1.1 yd) x 3.2cm (1¼in) single-fold bias tape
Skill level: The pattern is placed at a Level 3 (out of 5) on the In the Folds pattern skill scale, which means you should be confident using sewing patterns and can handle basic pattern alterations to achieve a good fit.
