THE EDIE DRESS & TOP • Pattern
By Merchant & Mills, The Edie dress and top is a paper sewing pattern.
Garment Details: The balloon sleeves of this simple top are the only detail that it requires to stand out. Less is more. The full sleeves are gathered with a tie which is threaded through a buttonhole, alternatively, you can omit this buttonhole and insert elastic instead. The Edie has a dropped shoulder, you could also extend the top into a dress – we found that the sleeves looked better a little shorter for a dress version. Depending on the length you require we’d suggest adding about 60cm.
There is a great hack provided by Merchant & Mills for a "Bagged Out" Edie Top with a single layer sleeve, you can find the instructions here.
Sizing: This is a multi-size pattern including sizes UK 6–18 or 18-28. Sizing, finished garment measurements and fabric requirements can be found here.
Fabric Suggestions: We would suggest using lighter weight woven fabrics, linen and linen blends, poplin, hemp and hemp blends, cotton chambray, Indian handweaves and block prints, tencel and tencel blends. The more structured the fabric the more sculptural your top will look.
Trims required: Matching thread.
Skill Level: Suitable for an intermediate level.
All seam allowances are included and 1.5cm unless otherwise stated.
